Until 1990, homosexuality was considered a disease by the World Health Organization. In some countries, punishment even included the death sentence.

RESPECT
The word respect comes from the Latin respectus, meaning the action of looking back or away.
The etymology of the term implies the idea of observation from a distance. In other words, a perspective in which you let the other person act and you just observe them, without interfering.
Take a look at the acronym
LGBTQIAPN+
Note the difference
BETWEEN
Identity
It’s the gender
you identify with
Man | Woman | Non-binary
Orientation
Who you’re
attracted to
Pan | Homo | Bi | Straight
Sex
Genitals and chromosomes
you were born with
Male | Female | Intersex
Note that some people simply can’t be who they are
And this affects health, as in the case of 20% of LGBTQIAPN+ people who don’t know where to get mental health and wellbeing support or advice.
Observe to
RESPECT
A crucial part of respect is undoubtedly looking at ourselves. Looking at our traumas and insecurities and analyzing whether we are channeling personal issues negatively into the world.
By observing our own thoughts, emotions and behavior, we gain a deeper understanding of who we are. And this helps us to recognize our own weaknesses, allowing us to be more understanding of the experiences and views of others.
